Ideally, gaining hard skills, soft skills, knowledge, and abilities starts at a young age and is a lifelong journey. The more time you have to practice and improve, the better. However, the saying “better late than never” applies here and it’s encouraged to pick something you are interested in, learn it, apply it, and practice!
We are going to start this post with childhood development, specifically development of the mind.
Reading and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) academic disciplines are imperative! These disciplines provide a solid foundation and huge advantage in a professional career.
Reading is the basis to learn all things. Reading gives one the potential to learn anything on their own. From reading, any other knowledge can be gained. Sure, it’s not the only way to learn, one can also learn through mentoring, classes, watching videos, but knowing how to read provides the greatest potential with the smallest barriers. Think of all the knowledge that’s obtainable from reading books and the internet!
The STEM academic disciplines provide a solid foundation to learn many skills (scripting/programming), get into great hobbies (amateur radio), and leap into rewarding and prosperous careers (cloud, IT, and information security).
